Ericsson to supply Batelco's HSDPA network in Bahrain

Batelco, the largest operator in the Kingdom of Bahrain, has selected Ericsson to upgrade its mobile network with HSDPA technology, joining the fast growing list of operators launching mobile broadband around the world.

Under the agreement, Ericsson will deliver and deploy a nationwide 3G/HSDPA network supporting Batelco in its Broadband Bahrain initiative through the offering of wireless broadband services, including multimedia. Roll out of the network has already started.

The contract also includes network and technology consulting services to assist Batelco in optimizing the network performance. Furthermore Ericsson will provide business consulting expertise in a Go-To-Market program for their advanced 3G services.
