TIM introduces HSDPA card to Greek market
November 22, 2006
Aiming to accelerate adoption of Broadband in the Greek market, TIM announced the availability of 3G Broadband (HSDPA) technology with rates of up to 1.8 Mbps (and an average actual rate approaching 800 kbps). At the same time TIM announced the availability of two new 3G Broadband Data Cards (PCMCIA and PCI Express), in addition to new tariff plans available for all customers. It is worth noting that the TIM Data Card is offered free-of-charge with most of the plans.
TIM's 3G Broadband technology is available nationwide wherever there is 3G network coverage. TIM is the only mobile operator in Greece offering HSDPA technology for more than 40 cities/regions while TIM Data Cards can also function over the GPRS network.
The two new TIM Data Card products include, for the first time in Greece, a PCI Express Card to support new generation laptop computers with the smaller socket, as well as Macs, and another PCMCIA card for other types of laptops. Therefore, TIM Data Card products cover all laptops available in the market today.
The new TIM Data Card tariff plans have even lower monthly fees, while TIM exclusively offers a program of unlimited usage (flat rate). There is also an additional new program with 300 MB of data volume included.
