Ericsson delivers 3G/HSPA for Indosat in Indonesia

PT Indosat (Indosat) has selected Ericsson to deliver a 3G/WCDMA network in Indonesia. This agreement includes providing a higher data rates and enhance end-user experience through High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA).

Under this full turnkey agreement, Ericsson will provide Indosat with the radio and core networks, including network design, deployment, integration, performance and improvement of its WCDMA network covering Jakarta and surrounding areas as well as West Java, Central Java and Yogyakarta.

Enhancing its network with HSPA will enable Indosat to offer appealing mobile services with data speeds of up to 3.6Mbps, allowing it to offer true mobile broadband, mobile video and other multimedia services to its customers.

Kaizad B. Heerjee, Deputy President Director of Indosat, says, "Through the launching of the next generation 3G services, we intend to bring a whole new meaning to broadband services in Indonesia. To do so, we need to have a partner who can meet that challenge and support us to introduce the latest and range of attractive mobile services to our customers in Indonesia"
