DoCoMo to Participate in PT/Wireless & Network Comm China 2001date: October 17, 2001 NTT DoCoMo will participate in PT/WIRLESS & NETWORKS COMM CHINA 2001 to be held at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing October 23-27, the company said today. This will be the first time for DoCoMo to join such an overseas exhibition since its launch of "FOMA*," the world's first W-CDMA based third-generation wireless service. The service was fully commercialized in Japan on October 1, 2001. W-CDMA technology is one of the standards selected for the International Mobile Telecommunications 2000 (IMT-2000) global standard for third-generation wireless communication. W-CDMA based FOMA service offers multi-rate transmission services for high-speed Internet connections, mobile multimedia network construction, and smooth full-motion video transmission. It also reduces interference, noise and fading to provide stable, high-quality voice and data transmission. The NTT DoCoMo booth (stand number: J7) will be located on the first floor of Hall 2 of the Exhibition Center. It will cover an area of 243 square meters and largely be dedicated to introducing FOMA. FOMA handsets and related service applications will be displayed in one corner of the booth. Visitors will be able to take part in a hands-on demonstration of FOMA applications. Other exhibits will include DoCoMo's popular mobile multimedia services, such as music and video content distributions services, as well as location service.
