HK Communications in Talks with CSL in MVNOdate: October 19, 2001 Hong Kong Communications Industrial is in talks with mobile services provider, CSL, on becoming its 3G mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), Hong Kong Economic Journal reports quoting company Chairman Huberd Chan. Hong Kong Communications, which is one of the two authorized distributors for Nokia's handset in Hong Kong, also said it is going ahead with its plan to list on the Hong Kong bourse. He said the listing plan comprises both a share placement and a public offering. The company hopes to use the proceeds to expand its business into other areas like product development and investing in its business in China. He said the company will soon expand its business into digital mobile service. CSL, one of the four winners of Hong Kong's 3G mobile license, is a joint venture between Australia's Telstra and Pacific Century CyberWorks. Under the contract term, each network owner must make 30% of its network available to a MVNO.
