Schema Launches 3G Planning Tooldate: October 20, 2001 Schema, the providers of network planning and optimisation solutions for GSM and GPRS networks, announces the launch of its UMTS OptiPlanner network planning product. This new product is part of a complete network optimisation solution that offers operators a comprehensive solution for planning 3G networks, enabling successful migration and subsequent revenue generation. Operators in Europe are faced with running hybrid networks consisting of GSM, GPRS and UMTS elements as they migrate to new technologies. Schema's UMTS OptiPlanner enables the automatic optimisation of the RF environment to enable unparalleled performance by influencing system-wide parameters, such as antenna configuration and transition levels. Operators moving from GSM can exploit it at both the initial green-field planning and migration stages of the network. The UMTS OptiPlanner is the latest addition to Schema's Telecom Resource Management (TRM) product suite. These products focus on complete network optimisation for GSM/GPRS/UMTS networks, including both OFP (optimised frequency planning) and automatic cell parameter planning. Schema's products for wireless networks are powered by proprietary optimisation technology - evolutionary algorithms that imitate nature's trial-and-error problem solving methods - and mathematical modelling to create a simulation of the physical network. The UMTS OptiPlanner is a tried and tested solution. Schema has used the UMTS OptiPlanner in Israel to provide PCL (Pelephone Communications) with the UMTS radio planning needed for the preparation of its response to the Ministry of Communications 3G license bid.
