Estonia discusses network sharingdate: October 22, 2001 - source: Äripäev Ivar Lukk, the chairman of Tele2 Eesti in Estonia, has said that his company has been holding talks with Radiolinja regarding plans to share their 3G infrastructure. Lukk confirmed that the company's wish was to build a single network for the country's three operators to use. "We've tried talking about it to our colleagues, but haven't received a definite answer," Lukk said. The success of Lukk's wish depends on the largest operator in the country, EMT's decision. However, EMT has said that it is not interested in such an alliance at the moment. The company said that it was waiting for the government to finalise the details of the 3G license tender before making its decision. The company is hoping to differentiate itself from its rivals by offering better coverage, faster data speeds and superior QoS, which shared infrastructure would not allow for. Radiolinja Eesti's MD, Sami Seppanen said that co-operation between the operators would be a reasonable solution. Seppanen told a local paper: "Thus far the topic has been touched on in conversations only, not at the (negotiating) table, but I believe that this day lies ahead."
