Germany's Group 3G has is to launch the "Quam" brand so that it can capitalise on offering voice services and establishing a customer base, due to the delays of 3G rollout. Voice services are due to start by December based on roaming agreements that are held with other operators. One news source cited that Quam would invest a double-digit million Euro sum on the brand and promotion before the end of the year. MD of Quam, Ernst Folgmann, said he is confident the company can start offering 3G services in Q1 2003. Owned by the Spanish company Telefonica Moviles (57.2%) and the Finnish company Sonera (42.8%), it has a UMTS license and is preparing the market launch of GPRS technology, which will act as a bridge between current and third generation mobile telephony. Using GPRS, Group 3G will launch a full range of services for private individuals and private companies. This new technology offers permanent internet connection and a number of innovative products.
