NCC secures another order for 3G build-out in Sweden

date: October 24, 2001

NCC Telecom has signed a contract with 3G Infrastructure Services AB (3GIS) regarding the construction of base stations for third-generation mobile telecommunication networks (3G). Under the agreement, NCC will build at least 300 base stations in Sweden. The contract also includes an option to build additional base stations in Sweden up to the end of 2003.

NCC previously signed an agreement with Tele2 regarding an early phase of 3G infrastructure build-out in Sweden.

The agreement with 3GIS covers project management, site procurement, project design, construction and installation. Work has already begun. The parties have agreed not to divulge the value of the order.

"The agreement with 3GIS constitutes another step towards the realization of NCC’s vision of becoming a leading builder of infrastructure for 3G mobile telecommunication networks. Since we have already concluded an agreement with Tele2 in the Swedish market, we are the Swedish construction company that has made the most progress to date, in terms of securing orders," says Maged Saleh, Business Unit Manager at NCC Telecom Sweden.

3G Infrastructure Services is owned by Hi3G and Europolitan Vodafone. The company’s mission is to build and operate the infrastructure required for providing 3G mobile services outside metropolitan areas.
