CDMA Americas Congress to be Broadcast Live on www.cdma-americas.com

date: October 29, 2001

The CDMA Development Group (CDG) (www.cdg.org) and the Institute for International Research (IIR) today announced that the opening session of the 2001 CDMA Americas Congress will be broadcast live at www.cdma-americas.com, giving online participants across the globe an opportunity to view the conference's keynote address and opening sessions.

Viewers will be able to take part in the keynote address delivered by George Gilder, chairman, Gilder Group Inc.; the state of the industry address by Dr. Irwin Jacobs, chairman and CEO of Qualcomm; and an executive roundtable hosted by Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDG, on the morning of Thursday, Nov. 1.

The CDMA Americas Congress, organized by the CDG and IIR, will be held Oct. 31-Nov. 2, 2001, at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego.

"While the focus of this conference is on the Americas, the topics to be explored have a global reach. As an added benefit to our annual conference, we are offering those who wish to participate but cannot travel to San Diego a chance to be involved in this year's CDMA Americas Congress," said LaForge.

"These sessions will discuss the leading issues affecting the wireless industry today, and we look forward to having interaction with a worldwide audience."

In addition to the addresses from industry experts Gilder and Irwin Jacobs, an executive roundtable discussion on "3G in the Americas: Exploring the diverse challenges and opportunities," will also be a part of the webcast.

The panel will feature Tom Wheeler of the CTIA, Carlos Killian of Comision Nacional de Comunicaciones (Argentina), Tom Sugrue of the FCC, Susan Swenson of Leap, Allen Salmasi of NextWave and Dr. Paul Jacobs of Qualcomm debating key topics such as industry trends, spectrum, uptake and revenue generation, all of which will play a role in shaping the future of wireless communications.

The 2001 CDMA Americas Congress offers attendees a comprehensive conference program, including in-depth business and technical tracks, the annual CDMA Test Forum, pre-conference workshops and the product showcase featuring the world's most innovative CDMA products available today and in the near future.

Participation in the webcast is limited and pre-registration is required. Visit the event Web site at www.cdma-americas.com for more information and to register. The cost for all three sessions (the keynote address by Gilder, the state of the industry address presented by Jacobs and the executive roundtable hosted by LaForge) is $400 (webcasts not sold separately). The webcast is being produced by Digevent.
