Cellcom sets up bidding for its 3G network
October 16, 2002
The Israeli mobile operator Cellcom said it plans to issue a tender
for bids from companies to setup its 3G network an Israeli newspaper
reported.
Vendors that will take part in the bid will include Nortel, Nokia
and Ericsson as they are suppliers with proven experience. It is
not yet known whether Siemens, Motorola and Alcatel will be involved
in the bid.
The operator does not want more than four suppliers to take part
in the bid because more work is needed to check offers.
Nokia was chosen to setup Cellcom's GSM network and this partnership
should make Nokia the favourite to win the 3G contract. Even so
the operator is looking for the best offer available.
