Logica Demonstrates MMS Between CDMA and GSM
October 18, 2002
Live Network Inter-Technology Multimedia Messaging Demo at CTIA
Wireless IT
Conference Powered by the Picasso Multimedia Messaging Center
Logica, the global solutions company and leading supplier of mobile
messaging and mobile payments solutions, demonstrated the world's
first Multimedia Message transmission between a CDMA and GSM carrier
network at the CTIA Wireless IT and Internet Conference in Las Vegas,
Nevada.
This live demonstration marks an important milestone in the development
and ongoing deployment of MMS capabilities by carriers worldwide
and highlights the advanced functionality available to carriers
through an implementation of Logica's Picasso MMS Center.
Designed specifically for 2.5G and 3G networks, the Picasso MMS
Center utilizes the unique architecture of The Messaging Platform
to provide a high performance, high availability MMS solution. It
enables carriers to realize revenue from multimedia messaging on
all networks today and the platform is device agnostic providing
support for all wireless devices including BREW based CDMA mobile
handsets.
"The ability to send messages across different network technologies
has been one of the key drivers in the growth of SMS," said Phil
O'Neill, Executive Vice President and General Manager for Logica
Mobile Networks in North America. " Network interoperability will
be equally important in the MMS world and by enabling "cross network"
MMS the Picasso MMS Center, enabling carriers to immediately realize
value for both their customers and their own bottom line".
