SK Telecom standardises on Dilithium Networks 3G-324M analysis
October 7, 2003
SK Telecom selects Dilithium Networks DNA as a reference platform for
3G-324M protocol analysis. Dilithium Networks and SK Telecom to partner
to establish quality metrics for 3G video calls.
Dilithium Networks, a leading provider of wireless multimedia solutions,
announced today that SK Telecom has selected Dilithium Networks' DNA as
the video telephony reference platform for its 3G WCDMA network in Korea.
Dilithium Networks' DNA has become the industry standard test tool for
video telephony interoperability testing for H.324M/3G-324M as defined
by 3GPP, 3GPP2 and FOMA. The 3G-324M is a multimedia standard for wireless
networks that enables real-time video and voice calls and streaming services
to be offered over a 64kbps circuit.
SK Telecom will use the DNA to enhance interconnectivity and interoperability
between various 3G-324M terminals it offers to its customers. "Dilithium
Networks provides unparalleled expertise in H.324M and wireless multimedia
communications. We are attracted by the DNA's rich feature suite with
extensive troubleshooting, tracing and debugging capability," said Mr.
H.W. Kim, Senior Research Manager, SK Telecom. "We are also working closely
with Dilithium Networks to establish quality metrics for 3G video calls."
"SK Telecom's selection of the DNA is another strong validation of the
usefulness and quality of the tool. Over 50 per cent of the leading 3G
operators and a majority of 3G OEM vendors use the DNA as the reference
platform for 3G-324M analysis and troubleshooting," said Paul Zuber, chief
executive officer, Dilithium Networks. "The DNA is proving to be vital
to enable widespread interoperability and reduce time to deployment of
3G equipment and services," he added.
The Dilithium Networks Analyzer (DNA) is recognized as the industry reference
platform for network and terminal OEMs and mobile operators to troubleshoot
interoperability problems. The DNA is designed for diagnosing, analyzing
and monitoring all aspects of video telephony calls including call control,
connection setup and tear down and voice and video codec quality. Operators
and OEMs can use the device to test new terminals and minimize the risk
of field software upgrades to ensure interoperability. The DNA also provides
a variety of call statistics and enables 3G operators to assess and optimize
voice and video call quality on their networks.
