Agilent announces QoS manager for CDMA/W-CDMA services
October 13, 2004
Agilent Technologies announced three solutions that enable service providers to test the availability and performance of push e-mail services delivered over wireless networks, as well as CDMA and W-CDMA services in North America. As part of the industry's most comprehensive suite of wireless service assurance solutions, these products manage the quality of service (QoS) delivered to subscribers, maximizing customer satisfaction.
The Agilent push e-mail test solution monitors e-mail services, such as those offered by BlackBerry. As an enhancement to Wireless QoS Manager, the push e-mail test solution monitors push e-mail performance from the edge of the service provider's network to the client's handset, and from the client's mail server to the handset (these portions of the transit are the responsibility of wireless service providers). This testing capability is one of the keys to consistently delivering high-quality service to subscribers and identifying performance problems outside the service provider's control.
Also announced is the availability of Agilent's industry-first active-call test system for real-time management of CDMA services and the North American availability of the solution for W-CDMA services. The Agilent OSS Wireless QoS Manager enables communication service providers to quickly identify and isolate 2G, 2.5G and now 3G service problems across multitechnology networks, minimizing downtime while providing higher QoS and faster time to market for new services.
Using Wireless QoS Manager's support for CDMA/1xRTT and W-CDMA/UMTS networks, providers are able to test key metrics such as service availability, round-trip send/receive times and voice quality mean opinion scores (MOSs) on the first try. Agilent's solution performs active test calls on an extensive range of wireless services, including video telephony, multimedia streaming, mobile instant messaging, unified messaging, voice, SMS, e-mail, Web and MMS, WAP and i-MODE.
