Orange and T-Mobile end Dutch 3G venture
October 15, 2004
Orange and T-Mobile said they will end their joint venture to roll out 3G networks in the Netherlands. The two companies will go their separate ways and build 3G networks on their own because of advances in technical development.
The joint venture, Radio Access Network Netherlands, was established in 2002 with the aim of spreading the cost of rolling out 3G networks.
KPN and Vodafone Netherlands are already providing commercial 3G services in some parts of the Netherlands, but Orange and T-Mobile are still struggling with their roll out.
T-Mobile is expecting to launch 3G in he first half of next year while Oranges aims to have 3G later this year.
