QUALCOMM provides 3G engineering services to more than 120 operators

October 24, 2006

QUALCOMM announced that the Company's Engineering Services Group (ESG) now works with more than 120 network operators in more than 60 countries, which collectively reach nearly 90 percent of 3G wireless subscribers worldwide. ESG, which was begun in 2001, assists network operators in the establishment and growth of wireless network systems, providing them with the latest in technology innovation, advantages in time to market and optimized network performance. ESG's breadth of expertise extends from 2G technologies through the current, most promising wireless technologies, including CDMA2000(R)/EV-DO, WCDMA/HSPA, OFDM and IP-based technologies.

ESG provides technology training and customized workshops, network design and deployment services and network optimization and evolution services. ESG's technology training and customized workshops share years of collected theoretical and practical experience in network planning, deployment and optimization, bringing wireless technology expertise and insight directly to the network operator's team. Design and deployment services, from dimensioning and capacity planning to in-building coverage and spectrum management, ensure a successful network system deployment. Network optimization and evolution services offer operators long-term engineering support and insight into technology innovations as they progress to future wireless communications systems.

"The convergence of high-speed wireless and personal electronics into multi-use devices requires operators to deploy increasingly advanced wireless networks," said Dan Agre, vice president of ESG. "Our wireless technical expertise and industry-wide experience have enabled ESG to deliver results that positively impact the bottom lines of network operators. We are committed to helping network operators maximize their technology investments, support end-user requirements and attain the highest-quality, most profitable networks."
