SK Gov to spent Won12.5bn on 4G developmentdate: September 12, 2001 An amount of Won 12.5 bn will be invested by the South Korean government to kick-start the development project on 4G mobile technology and an increase of 15% till 2010. The Beyond IMT-2000 project will be initiated in October 2001 and a task force, to focus on the 4G vision and concept, will be established in November 2001. The task force will contain specialists from research institutions, academician, and industry. In addition to that, the government will also work on a partnership with China and Japan for this project. In May, the Korean Ministry Information and Communication confirmed a joint effort between the government and telecom companies to research and develop 4G wireless services in June. Both groups plans to have a strategy by June on 4G development and hoping to set some sort of standardization for the technology, which will make its introduction by 2010. Hi3G
