DoCoMo Expects High ARPUdate: September 27, 2001 Japan's dominant mobile telecoms operator, NTT DoCoMo , said on Thursday monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) for its hyper-fast FOMA 3G service to be launched next week was expected to rise to 10,000 yen ($84.84). Chief Executive Keiji Tachikawa, speaking to news reporters, said prospects for increased sales from 3G was good and that ARPU would rise from current levels near 8,000 yen. In the April-June quarter, DoCoMo said monthly ARPU was 8,770 yen, of which 7,300 yen was for voice and 1,470 yen for data from DoCoMo's hugely popular i-mode service, which has more than 27 million subscribers.
