Orange to deploy WaterCove's networking infrastructure
September 17, 2002
WaterCove Networks announced that Orange UK has signed a commercial
agreement to deploy WaterCove Networks Mobile Data Service Systems
within the Orange UK network -- the largest operator in the UK serving
over 12.8 million subscribers. The systems gives Orange a platform
to deliver 2.5G and 3G services to its subscribers.
Fueling growth in wireless data communication, the WaterCove Networks
Mobile Data Service System provides a platform to create, deliver
and monetize high-value data services within 2.5G and 3G environments
for revenue generation, and the development of brand loyalty that
can lead to reduced churn and long-term subscriber growth.
According to leading industry analyst firm IDC, worldwide revenues
from mobile data services are expected to grow to $48 billion by
2005.
"WaterCove is extremely pleased to have been selected by a highly
respected mobile operator like Orange to provide them with the next-generation
data service capabilities of the Mobile Data Service System," said
Peter Lojko, president and CEO of WaterCove Networks. "This agreement
is the market's first recognition that a new generation of infrastructure-driven
capabilities are needed if operators are going to set new data service
offerings in motion, effectively introduce new pricing models, and
be able to scale successful services quickly to meet consumer demand."
