3 already has 10,000 customers in Austria
September 09, 2003
Austria, the first 3G mobile multimedia provider in Austria - revealed
its customer figures today to counter rumors and speculation reported
in the media. In the last 15 weeks - specifically in the time period from
the launch date (the 5th of May) until today - the only video telephony
provider in Austria has won 10,000 customers.
Bert Thoma, CEO of 3 Austria, is proud of this first step on the path
to mobile multimedia in Austria:
"First of all I would like to express my thanks to the approximately
10,000 customers that have given their trust to a previously unknown provider
with a completely new technology.
I am very satisfied with these results. It shows that our summer promotion,
which has now been running for a full two months, has been completely
effective despite the summer holidays and this year's unusually hot weather.
Initially our customers could not believe the revolutionary low price
of our offer, since our tariff rates started at 0.4 cents in all networks
in Austria around the clock. Now 3 is making its greatest impact in video
telephony. This fact is being confirmed by the customer figures both nationally
as well as internationally."
Bert Thoma continues, "We will certainly add additional models to our
assortment of devices. By the end of the year we will expand our network
by 35%. Therefore, in addition to the Vienna metropolitan area, Linz,
Graz, St. Pölten, Eisenstadt, and Innsbruck; where we currently offer
3G services (coverage 30%); our mobile multimedia-services will also be
available in Klagenfurt, Wels, Dornbirn, Bregenz and Lustenau - the entire
Rhine Valley."
