Train information available on 3UK

September 19, 2004

3UK announced that train information is available to 3 customers on their video mobiles through an arrangement with National Rail Enquiries, the UK rail industry's official supplier of rail travel information, and Kizoom, the mobile software company.

The partnership between 3 and National Rail Enquiries is the latest in a series of offerings where consumer content is prepared and managed externally and offered to customers on the 3 video mobile network. The new service is called 'My Trains'.

With My Trains, customers will be able to access rail information by clicking on the travel icon from the services menu. Once customers have selected their usual train stations, the information is stored and easily retrieved without searching next time around.

The My Trains service is now live on the 3 video mobile network and follows the recent launch of another partner site, Ladbrokes Balls! the first 3G gambling service.

Graeme Oxby, Marketing Director, 3 commented: "Now 3's million plus customers can access the latest train information on their video mobiles. Commuters can waste time waiting for delayed trains, with 3 they can now spend more time in bed in the morning, or order that last pint in the pub. Our strategy of working with content partners that are responsible for preparing and managing specific is proving very successful. It offers customers a greater range of services, it is time and cost efficient, and gives the supplier access to the fastest growing mobile customer base in the UK."

Chris Scoggins, Chief Executive of National Rail Enquiries, commented: "The mobile rail timetable service is proving to be extremely popular with our customers. The system enables them to access train timetables and the very latest real-time arrival and departure information in a quick and easy format."
