Wireless Services helps smaller carriers with MMSC
September 27, 2004
Wireless Services Corporation announced it will offer advanced wireless data capabilities to its carrier customers that will help smaller carriers compete by offering 3G services to subscribers. Through its purchase of an MMSC (Multimedia Messaging Services Center), the data carrier significantly extends the wireless data capabilities of its customers.
As photo messaging, polyphonic ringtones, mobile games and other multimedia messaging services (MMS) have become mainstream in North America, regional carriers face increased pressure to provide the same services and handsets that large, national carriers are offering their customers. Wireless Services enables regional carriers to quickly roll out these services, at a lower cost and more reliably, than they could on their own.
"Multimedia messaging presents an enormous opportunity for all carriers to profit from wireless data," said Rich Begert, Wireless Services CEO. "But it is a daunting task for smaller carriers to build the infrastructure and expertise to launch and maintain these services. By outsourcing these functions to Wireless Services, these carriers can quickly profit from advanced data services and strengthen their competitive position in the marketplace."
Wireless Services' purchase of an MMSC and WAP gateway is integral to the company's plans to become a carrier's carrier, the trusted source for all wireless data services for carriers.
