Axesstel and Airvana demonstrate fixed wireless broadband connectivity

September 11, 2005

Axesstel and Airvana will demonstrate live broadband fixed wireless connectivity during the 2005 3G CDMA Americas Congress, held September 12-14, 2005, in Miami. Axesstel's AXW-D1900 Broadband Fixed Wireless modems will run on Airvana's IP-enabled CDMA2000 1xEV-DO infrastructure to provide 3G connectivity to multiple laptops in Airvana's Internet Cafe, located at booths 218 and 220. Show attendees will experience firsthand the benefits that wireless broadband data offers to consumers and businesses that need to access e-mail and the Internet from their home or office.

"Operators worldwide are choosing to deploy CDMA2000 1xEV-DO networks to provide superior quality voice and high-speed data services quickly and more economically than costly landline network alternatives," said Randy Battat, president and CEO of Airvana. "Airvana's 1xEV-DO infrastructure paired with Axesstel's broadband modem offers operators a complete turnkey solution."

The D1900 modem will also be on display at other partner booths and the CDMA Development Group (CDG) booths (206 and 208), along with Axesstel's past and current fixed wireless phones and voice/data terminals, depicting the evolution and current advances of CDMA fixed wireless terminals.

"We have a strong collaborative relationship with Airvana and CDG, and are pleased to partner with them to demonstrate the power and evolutionary advancements of broadband and fixed wireless solutions at America's premier CDMA congress," said Mike Kwon, chairman and CEO of Axesstel.

Out of a total global population of 6.5 billion, only an estimated 1.5 billion have access to telecommunications, leaving an estimated 5 billion people without access to communications. Fixed wireless and broadband telecommunication services are viewed by many governments of developing countries as a critical catalyst to the social and economic advancement of their countries.

The plug-and-play functionality of Axesstel's D1900 enables operators to offer their customers quick and easy access to e-mail and the Internet at speeds up to 2.4 Mbps through an ethernet or USB connection. Connected to a wireless router, the D1900 provides 3G EV-DO access to multiple desktop PCs and laptops in a home or office.
