ANADIGICS expands HELP WCDMA power amplifier

September 13, 2005

ANADIGICS, a supplier of wireless and broadband solutions, introduced three new wideband CDMA (WCDMA) power amplifiers (PAs) that offer industry-leading power efficiency to extend battery life in mobile handsets and WCDMA-enabled notebook PC cards. The new High-Efficiency-at-Low-Power (HELP) PAs offer full compliance with HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) requirements, while maintaining compatibility with UMTS data services to support the growing demand for mobile high speed internet services.

"The migration of 3G WCDMA technology to the HSDPA standard enables a new class of wideband services for consumers while simultaneously raising the bar on the power consumption requirements of mobile products," said Dr. Ali Khatibzadeh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Wireless Products at ANADIGICS. "ANADIGICS' latest generation of HSDPA complaint WCDMA power amplifiers utilizes our innovative HELP technology to offer best-in-class power consumption for mobile 3G products."

ANADIGICS' HELP WCDMA PAs use the Company's exclusive InGaP-Plus technology, which integrates bipolar and field-effect transistor (FET) structures on the same InGaP GaAs die. The new HELP WCDMA PAs offer quiescent currents of 16 milliamp or lower, provide leakage currents of less than 1 microamp, and are optimized for all output power levels to deliver 50% less average power consumption. The PAs are offered in a 10-pin 4 mm by 4 mm by 1.1 mm surface-mount package designed for applications that require European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) solutions.
