ANADIGICS ships penta-band 3G PA for SGH-Z620

September 14, 2006

ANADIGICS, a supplier of wireless and broadband solutions, announced that the Company is shipping multi-mode, multi-band power amplifiers (PAs) to Samsung Electronics for the new SGH-Z620 3G handset. With a profile of only 11.8 mm, the SGH-Z620, also known as the Ultra Edition 11.8, is a sleek handset that features a 2 megapixel camera, HSDPA connectivity, and QVGA display. ANADIGICS' single-package 6 mm by 8 mm by 1 mm penta-band WCDMA / EDGE PAs significantly reduce space requirements, enabling manufacturers to design thin multimedia handsets, such as the SGH-Z620.

"We are extremely pleased that Samsung Electronics has selected ANADIGICS' best-in-class 3G WCDMA / EDGE power amplifier for the slim SGH-Z620 handset," said Dr. Ali Khatibzadeh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Wireless Products at ANADIGICS. "Our penta-band 3G power amplifier has set a new benchmark for HSDPA / EDGE performance and integration, enabling mobile devices with impressive features, long talk-time, and sleek design. Our strong 3G product portfolio combined with strategic relationships with tier-one chipset manufacturers continues to drive ANADIGICS' share in the 3G market upward."

ANADIGICS' AWT6223 multi-mode 3G PAs utilize the Company's second-generation High-Efficiency-at-Low-Power (HELP2) technology to reduce WCDMA average power consumption by 50%. In WCDMA mode, the power amplifier offers outstanding efficiencies of 41% at +28.5 dBm and 21% at +16 dBm, resulting in longer battery life and additional talk-time. In GSM mode, the power amplifiers provide efficiency of 55% in the GSM850/900 bands and 50% in the DCS/PCS bands. ANADIGICS' new multi-mode PAs use the Company's exclusive InGaP-Plus technology, which integrates HBT and pHEMT devices on the same InGaP GaAs die. These PAs are manufactured using a materials set consistent with the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS).
