September 15, 2001:

The Norwegian government has set a new deadline of Monday for a new group to apply for the 3G mobile network license held by liquidated Broadband Mobile.


September 5, 2001:

An investment group, lead by the Norwegian businessman, Nadir Nalbant have been granted until September 14th to try and purchase the 3G license handed back to Norway's government by Broadband Mobile, the joint venture between Finland's Sonera and Enitel.


August 20, 2001:

Norway's transport and communications minister, Terje Moe Gustavsen, is said to be considering changing the regulations for the remaining three license winners that are hoping to build out their 3G networks. Gustavsen is considering offering the returned license to one of the three companies which were unsuccessful in acquiring a license back in November last year.


August 9, 2001:

Sonera's has decided to take immediate measures to liquidate the joint venture of Norwegian subsidiary Broadband Mobile and will return the license back to Norway with no penalties.


29th Nov 00:

The Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications announced Wednesday that it has allocated its four third-generation mobile licenses. They are Telenor, NetCom GSM AS, Broadband Mobile and Tele2. Seven telecoms groups in total applied for the licences.

The winners will pay NKr200m ($21.5 m) per licence and an annual fee of NKr20 ($2.2 million)
