| Radio interface |
System enabling a mobile terminal to communicate
with the network. Numerous discussions were held within ETSI
in 1997 on the standardisation of a radio interface for UMTS.
On 29 January 1998 the SMG committee adopted the UMTS Terrestrial
Radio Access standard (UTRA). UTRA was adopted by the ITU in
March 1999 as a radio interface standard for IMT 2000. |
